Gratitude Attitude

When I taught in Navasota, TX we had a morning assesmbly before school started to sing songs, say the pledge and just get everyone moving first thing in the morning. Around Thanksgiving we would sing this song called "Gratitude Attitude". It is adorable. Well, the chorus would say "What are you grateful for?" and the class on stage would take turns saying something that they were grateful for into the microphone. I don't think it gets much cuter than kids talking about being thankful for what they have.

I really didn't want to get out of my warm bed this morning. I had one dog on either side of me just snuggling away. So I snoozed a little...5:00 AM to 5:20 AM...so not too bad.
I rolled out of bed and got in the shower half-asleep...got out, brushed my teeth and put my pj's back on to get ready for another day. I made sure my husband got up and he was just as hesitant to do so. I put on my makeup per usual...
...and I got dressed, still grumbling. My hubby made me some coffee to take with me (sweetheart) and kissed me goodbye (sweetheart again). I shut off the lights and made my way to my car...started driving/yawning and thinking how long of a day it was going to be. I plugged my phone in so I could listen to my music. Hearing this song definitely perked me up a little bit:

Then, I turned the corner to get out of our neighborhood and saw this:

How beautiful is that? I had to get a picture. That moment my whole attitude changed. What the heck was I complaining about? I woke up in a safe, warm house. I had slept in a soft, comfortable bed next to my loving husband and sweet doggies. I took a shower with hot, running water. I put on expensive make-up. I got dressed in nice clothes and got in my vehicle to drive to my job that I love. Wow. Those moments that bring you to reality are something else. We all have things to be grateful for. All of us. It is completely natural to want more and get a little envious sometimes. But, when those times come up, just think of how much you have compared to others.
By the time I got to work, I was feeling so happy and exceptionally grateful for all that I have been given in my life. I went from "I don't wanna" to "I want to smile and give thanks"...so I did...my happy face:
I snapped one more picture on my way to work.
So, what are you grateful for? Here's my list:
  • My husband
  • My family
  • My animals
  • My friends
  • My health
  • My freedom
  • My job
  • My husband's job
  • The babies in my life (see below)
  • The kids I teach
  • Many, many other amazing things that I have been blessed with
These are the babies in my life:

Please count your blessings. There is ALWAYS something to be grateful for. Just think about it...
